The “IT” Bag

Savannah Brinson was spotted at a Celtics/Heat game a couple of months ago carrying the new “it” bag.

THE CÉLINE BAG

How heavenly is that bag?

I often talk about shopping wisely and looking chic for less. But THIS BAG? It’s okay to splurge on. It’s worth it.

How many of you ladies are pondering this purchase right now like me?

My Oscar Favs

The world’s BIGGEST night of fashion didn’t disappoint. Here are some of my favorites.

Louise Roe

She wore a Black Halo Style pink ensemble, which looked was very structured and unique.

Viola Davis

She wore the perfect green Vera Wang dress. Kudos to her for showing off her natural hair. She should definitely stick with this look.

Dapper Don

Pharrell Williams chose to wear a traditional tux with a twist: a velvet bow tie. Handsome. Handsome.

Kelly Ripa

She turned heads on the red carpet with her creamy yellow chiffon gown. She will be in charge of hosting the after party in a special post show wrap up bash.

Tina Fey

The funny woman chose a navy number by classic designer Carolina Herrera.

Mila Jovovich

White and cream seemed to be the tone for the night and Mila looked stunning in this one shoulder Elie Saab.

Glenn Close

Although I would have liked to see her without the jacket, the seasoned actress

The Look of the Night
Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad

Murad is ONE of my favorite designers of the moment. I highlighted him just the other day.

J.Lo looked stunning in a cream colored beaded gown with cut out arm details. This fit her like a glove. She opted to wear her hair up in a classic bun.

Buns

Many celebs chose to wear the bun tonight at the Oscars.

E! host Jiuliana Rancic chose to wear hers around mid-level tonight.

It is a simple look that requires minimal preparation and can be worn at different levels. I tend to like the smaller, more refined buns like these.

Here is an EASY instructional video on how to get this look.

Support For 2012

New mommy Beyonce’ Knowles-Carter and her mother Tina have always been supporters of President Barack Obama. They are showing their support even more by designing a fundraising re-election t-shirt for the President’s 2012 campaign.

This is part of the Runway to Win campaign in which other celebs and designers are creating their own shirts in support. Other participants include Tracey Reese, Tory Burch, Marc Jacobs, Rachel Roy, Jason Wu, Sean Combs, and more.

They range from $45-$95 and all proceeds go towards President Obama’s re-election campaign and will be on sale February 7th.

I will be getting mine!

New Face

Ann Taylor just announced that Kate Hudson will be the face for their Spring 2012 ad campaign.

Kate stars in the brand’s spring 2012 campaign—shot by fashion photographer Tom Munro in a Pasadena estate—in which she’s looking ultra-glamorous and ladylike in pretty dresses, her sunkissed golden tresses shiny and glowing, while lounging in a luxurious living room.

“I am thrilled to collaborate with Ann Taylor,” the 32-year-old actress, who’s engaged to rocker Matthew Bellamy, said in a statement. “I love fashion, and their new spring collection is so stylish and hip and colorful! As a young girl I looked up to the sophisticated style of Ann Taylor so it’s been very cool to see how the brand has evolved to meet the changing needs of modern women.”

I was just in Ann Taylor on yesterday. They create some of the classiest pieces. Can’t wait to see what’s in store for Spring 2012!

Introducing Jason Wu for Target

From the Huffington Post:

After hints via Twitter and a few teaser images, the full Jason Wu for Target lookbook is finally here!

We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again: we love this collection. Jason Wu previously told the New York Times, “My goal was not to duplicate anything from my main collection… Instead I designed completely new clothes and accessories that reflect my taste and have a voice of their own.”

And he accomplished his goal. The clothes are not the lacy and glamorous looks of the runway but rather flirty, playful looks that the average woman could wear to work, brunch or a cocktail party (or that the fashion-savvy high school student could wear to class — especially those cute penny loafers with socks).

The color palette skews nautical with plenty of navy and red, but there’s a bit of mustard (seen in Wu’s runway collections) and of course a healthy dose of black. And then there are the bags, which are also summery and ladylike with boxy shapes.

And if the designs themselves weren’t appealing enough, the prices will grab you. Pieces range from $19.99 to $59.99 for clothes and $19.99 to $49.99 for accessories.

There is only one downside: Jason Wu for Target is only available from February 5 through March 6. Will this become another next Missoni for Target or Versace for H&M situation?

Paying Homage

One time for Kourtney Kardashian for being the cutest pregnant woman EVER. Below she was pictured in a floor length sequin dress for a New Year’s Eve party at Chateau in Las Vegas.

Ladies, remember just because you are carrying a little one, doesn’t mean you cannot be fashionable.

If you are expecting, check out http://www.borrowforyourbump.com/. This is a website for expectant moms in which you can borrow clothing and return them after your pregnancy. How cool is that?

S.L.S. Approved: Versace Yellow Diamond

I’m usually one who will wear the same perfume for months. Boring huh? It’s just really difficult to find something that I like. I’m a picky woman.

I’ve been attached to “Narcisco Rodriguez Musc Collection for Her” for almost two years now.

But!! I think I may have found another one to be attached to!

Versace Yellow Diamond

According to FashionSpot.com, the fragrance was inspired by a yellow diamond that Gianni gave to his sister Donatella. The Yellow Diamond box is the first to feature the Italian house’s iconic medusa design.

The scent’s notes include citron, pear sorbet, bergamot, orange blossom, mimosa, and amber woods so you can expect a distinctly citrus scent at first (the orange blossom comes through especially strong), but the fragrance softens with the dry down.

S.L.S. Favorite: Karen Millen

I must say, Karen Millen is my favorite designers. This line is a little on the conservative side but the splashes of color always create fun pieces. I will give you a background on Ms. Millen. Along with it, I have included some of my favorite dresses from her collection:

Karen Millen is an Icelandic owned women’s designer clothing brand, specializing in tailoring, coats, and eveningwear.

Colorblock with Lacing Dress, $160

The company was founded in 1981 when Karen Millen partnered with Kevin Stanford. With a loan of just $100, the pair bought one thousand meters of white cotton and began manufacturing and selling white shirts to their friends.

Ladylike Knit Dress, $195

A party plan network followed and in 1983 they opened their first store in Kent, which was followed a few years later by branches in Tunbridge Wells, Brighton, Guildford and London.

Midnight Hour Satin Dress, $145

The brand continued to expand throughout the Nineties when it was acquired in June 2004 by Mosaic Fashions. In 2009 Mosaic Fashions ceased trading and the brand now operates as part of Aurora Fashions.

Bodycon Knit Dress, $245

Creative Director Gemma Metheringham oversees twelve designers, producing two main collections and two transitional collections each season.

Military Dress, $125
Karen Millen trades from 84 standalone stores and 46 concessions in the UK and Ireland. Internationally, Karen Millen trades from 16 company owned stores and 57 franchise stores in 23 countries.
Mixed Striped Dress, $195
In the United States, Karen Millen has boutiques in Atlanta, Boston, Bellevue, Washington, Dallas, Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco, Short Hills, Tysons Corner, Natick, San Diego and Washington, D.C.. In March 2008 the company launched a new flagship store in New York at 114 Prince Street.

“Karl” for Net-a-Porter

According to Fashionetc.com,

Is there a Karl Lagerfeld clone out there we don’t know about? Because somebody’s been quite the busy boy.

With Chanel, Fendi, his eponymous label, Macy’s collection, photography, upcoming fragrance, and designing Diet Coke bottles as well as the odd wine label already under his studded black leather belt, Herr Lagerfeld is stretching his talents even further with the January 25 launch of the lower-priced Karl line, Women’s Wear Daily reports.

The “rock ‘n’ roll-flavored” masstige line—comprising 100 pieces priced from $95 to $450—will début on Net-a-Porter before hitting KarlLagerfeld.com on February 28. The collection will eventually be sold via a small section of “high-visibility retailers.”

“It’s my today’s taste and style and a reflection of how I think a great number of people would like to be dressed now,” says the designer of the “ageless” Karl collection, which includes sexy little black dresses and lots of denim and leather.
“We believe in this collection based on Karl’s talent, his global appeal, and the product itself,” adds Net-a-Porter founder Natalie Massenet.

“It’s a very strong, well-edited collection with a great mix of street attitude and timeless chic. It also is an entire wardrobe that mixes and matches well with itself. While it has great contemporary price points, it has enough edge to resonate with a sophisticated fashion consumer who is looking for great new items at any budget.”
